today, i learnt about sheesha aka shisha.

a pipe bowl, similar to that of a crown; the baluster body, elegant and rounded somehow evokes the shape of a woman. the hose curve that coils up around the mast, can be easily compared to the woman's arm outline. think a palace. which is the metaphor for which the atmosphere of a sheesha session ideally takes place: pillows, tapestries, gold and so on.

in short, it's used for smoking flavoured tobacco like cafe mocha. don't get me wrong, i'm still a fervent anti-smoker.

yeah. that was the place i chanced upon along arab street for dinner with the guys (zhang, xuan, yongyang). how we ended up there, ask yy whom we followed in the rain, walked about a mile to a 'sorry, we at closed on boxing day' fancy arty farty expression ambience cafe along bali lane.

so anyway, we had a feast served on a golden biggest-plate-i've-ever-seen that took up 75% of the table surface that we had only space for the extended handle of the cutlery. seriously, as kuku as i was, i thought to myself, what a huge drink (sheesha) that was. obviously, i've never seen it before la. duh. and the smoke was like the effects of dry ice. haha.

it's quite interesting to see the men in their office wear chilling out with their sheesha. personally, the look on their faces is as close as you can get to seeing the effects of glue sniffing. the satisfied grin.

we were enjoying ourselves with the huge piece of chicken and dory and naan and flavoured herbs rice and my cranberry graniti or something like that i recall, until the music and scent suddenly filled the whole place when the waiter walked around with a erm.. pot. no offense but what xuan said, i totally agree. it's the kind that encourages you to leave the place. haha.

nonetheless, it was an eye-opener and i will be back again for the delicious food but its defintely not a good place to chill.

a mystical smoke.

cloned animals are 'safe to eat' entitled the article. okay, that's gross. to add on, the authority said it was fine to not have any labels that stated the food was from the cloned animal because they don't wanna misinform consumers. hello?

don't we consumers have the right to know?! yea yea. you keep encouraging people to live life the way we want it, and obviously, that includes to choose what we wanna eat or not eat. how contradictory! anyway, not informing consumers means your bluffing or you have something to hide, ok.

does cloned animals provide the same benefits as an original animal, i truly wonder. but seriously, there is obviously a reason why God only allowed a certain number of animals on the face of the earth at any point in time. One reason is obviously not for cloning. It disgusts me.

why is there a need to clone in the first place? please don't tell me it's because of consumers' demand for more more steaks and pork tenderloins.

seriously, i think, no more pig, then don't eat pork la. i mean, it's only pork ribs, char siew, pork chop, crispy pork skin, three layer meat, intestines. anyway, isn't it good to take a break from such oily and fattening food.

there was a period in perth where bananas were sparse, so i didn't have them even tho' i missed having it. humans eat to live not live to eat, for a matter of fact (no matter for culturistic food is).

i don't wanna have some micro chip beneath my skin just so i can be free from the hassle of tapping my ezlink card whenever i board the public transport. neither do i want to be eating cloned steaks or pork tenderloins, or drink cloned cows' milk or cloned chicken eggs.

the thought is so gross. super imitation la. grade AAA, no one can tell the difference. Isn't piracy such a big thing, anyway? maybe they should consider paying royalties to the poor chicken/pork/cow for their unique patent services. snort*

But i want to carry around my fat wallet containing all my credits. I wanna eat vegetables with holes made from insects. I wanna to eat normal size chicken wings. how gross is it that maybe one fine day, the scientists decide to clone humans.

what is the world coming to?

can we live life simply?

my beautician said to me today

"you're an intelligent girl with a broad thinking. You tend to think afar."

"ehhh?" why is it so. i never did told you anything, did i? i wondered.

"oh, you see your mole on your forehead indicates that you're intelligent and the mole on your cheeks represents prosperity."

and so she said.

mole a story.

happy birthday, Jesus!
thanks for being who you are who gives only the best for me.
loves me and has saved sinful me from the troubled world. peace initiated.
You are the prince of peace.
The son of righteousness.
Holy holy, are you Lord.
To you out there,
your eyes clouded by troubles,
your heart blocked by fears.
your mind filled with questions,
feeling lost, you cry those tears.
But on Christmas Day,
Jesus Christ is born.
to give us hope, everlasting love.
and to die for our sins once and for all.
He can be your comfort, your refuge
your source of strength
you just need to turn to Him.
will you accept Him as your Lord and Friend?
tis the season to be jolly,
fa la la la la, la la la la.
blessed christmas everyone!

the world without peace and joy..

was the title of today's news. isn't it sad how we often want to be in control of all the things around us but couldn't. And right before our very ears we hear of bombings, terrorist attacks, wars which i think derives from pride and jealousy?

in this city of high level of uncertainty avoidance, everybody wants to be sure of where they are heading, what they are doing, who they are. "it must be perfect!"
but why?

i may seem ignorant about wars and natural disasters, that's because i can't stop it from happening. doesn't it pains, of cause it does. But what hurts even more is to see little children suffering the fate of their divorced parents.

not to be rude but, can't you just think before you do something rash. ya, i agree emotional do get in the way. But please use your brains! It isn't just thinking for yourself once you start living with somebody else. And it obviously isn't just making choices without your children or your spouse in mind, is it. Do you know how your child feels? that everyday she comes home only to see her siblings, and no matter how much she misses you and tries to ring you up, you scold her and changed your telephone number. And you, the man, kindly lay down your pride and head back home. there's people who care just awaiting your presence. come home please?

isn't this something of which you are in control of? why don't you bring that little joy in this little heart of your kids.

there's just so much i can do. can you pretty please put that smile back on her face?

Tis the season of love.

in green: the three wise men.
in gold: the idol made of gold that king nebuchernezzar worshipped

the play was well scripted, very amusing and interesting. joel in his new hair cut sang really well. The song 'my beautiful boy' by caron was sweeet. the whole musical from the start till darren's part was good. His story was really applicable and really interesting. The only thing i didn't really like about it was the intermission. haha. good job YC!

love odyssey, the musical.

i'm back!

made a short trip to macau and china with my family. For the first time ever, i took tiger airways.

Upon reaching chilly macau, the cold winds blew and it felt really good to be away from humid singapore and summer in perth.

lemme try recalling from day 1. from macau, we took a cab to china and had a rather cheap seafood dinner. We had the renowned scallop dish called 'ching yong teng' in canto and it was uber yummy. Then we did some shopping till midnight.

Day 2, we had dimsum for lunch at the dragon king resturant and did some shopping at 'nu ren jie'. Then, we had seafood dinner again. And this time, i felt kinda grossed out. there was oysters, scallops, clams, muscles and fish. i have this thing for seafood - i can't sit beside a fish tank while eating and i can't have oysters and muscles and clams all together. they kinda look funny served together.
after that, we proceeded back to the hotel for foot reflexology. shioks.

Day 3, we walked to 'lian hua lu' to buy scallops. interesting how such expensive such stuff is in singapore but so cheap there. I love how the food stalls are along the roadside, and the marketplace and the aunties all talking so loudly. It's amusing how they are able to hear each other when everyone else is screaming. As much as i wanna try the food just for the fun of it, i have such a weak stomach. They sold tepanyaki, kebab, cherry fruit coated in honey (san char), noodles, takopachi and stuff all for like a mere S$1. it really brings me back to old singapore written in those history textbooks in sec 2.

Besides that, i bought a pair of retro heels for S$4, without bargaining. power right. haha. there wasn't much shopping to do, more or a 'look see look see' since it was winter fashion. it's a wonder how the cost of goods sold is so low. i did my full manicure for only S$4. since it was that cheap, my whole family did it too and that includes daddy and bro. haha.

In the evening, we headed to the seafood village for dinner. There was a whole street of seafood sellers selling all kinds of sea animals. from shark's fins to some quirting wormy looking thingy. mummy bought abalone, scallops, crabs, prawns anf brought it to a restaurant for them to cook for us to eat. interesting ain't it? i heard that hong kong also has this style of food enjoyment.

i'm tad under the weather, besides the current food poisoning from the china claypot chicken and stomach flu, the flu bug just attacked me a few minutes ago.
alright, it's up to here for tonight, will upload more tmr.

can you smell the freedom?

the season i have been waiting for.
the joy bursting within.
the outpouring of the warmthness of heart.
the estastic laughter.
the fun-filled dinners and drinks.
the true friendships.
the time to be me.

i've been finding what's good for me and the thing that i missed, the thing that i once had, now i really seek.

after searching thru what it was like to be me, the moments i truly enjoyed, the times of happily ever after, the loving of simple pleasures, the untroubled days, the unrestricted days. The ultimate was what that made me smile everyday, that that made little things brighten up my day, and that's definitely what i'm looking for.

somehow or rather, i tot leaving for a new environment to live in, would help me to relive the joy within me that was waiting to burst out. but it couldn't. the volcano isn't heated enough to be gushing out lava. instead it was filled with restrictions and uncovered hurts that caused a blockage. so one day, the Man of truth came by and started digging up all that was unclean, carried away all that baggages, lifted up burdens into a black box. Suddenly, the volcano was emptied and all ready to be heated up and filled with tequila sunrise.

i could enjoy the beauty of His makings, be embraced in His warmth, accept His unfounding love, and most of all, be covered with His grace and be filled with the fullness of joy.

somehow, the smiles that forms widely, the shiny look appearing in the eyes, the glowing face just portrays the heart and soul of the like. hence, it's really hard not to be how you are feeling.

to be truly happy (contented/joy) is an unprecendented affair. never once the same.

@12/07/2006 12:32:00 PM

well.. it's been a learning journey, somewhat a less painful one. been so absorbed into playing computer games daily, it feels weird not to be anywhere near the machine. so i tried something new, i made the kitchen my territory and started packing cookies to nicely wrapped pieces, cooked barley to a different swirl, created smoothies - kiwi and mango (YUM!), made dinners on some days; carbonara, bak ku teh and rosti for such. As you can see, home is such a warmth yet cool place to chill out in.

The past 2 weeks, the only time i stepped out was for supper, injections and twenty 1st parties, i'm sorry. The crowd during the day at anywhere is scaring me, it makes me feel so small and tiny that they might possibly stepped over me. Of which it reminds me, this girl at citylink pushed the door (the one leading to marina sq) so hard that it went over my poor little toe. ouch!

So this week's decided its gonna be different. i met fatsy's owner after 3 injections for dim sum, i met cia for chilling during the day and dinner with foodcomm babes. woot~ And yes, it's a myth to not be able to eat seafood after taking injections. the sambal stingray rawks! and please lemme enlighten all you non-blk85 eaters - ah balling is tang yuan. The peanut balling is suuuuuper duper uber yummilicious! that even when i had my wisdom tooth plucked, i also ate it.

yst while exchanging tots with dav, i realized that i have a fear in me. The fear of crowds. Having lived in perth for almost a year, the comparison is subtly wide. With the humid weather that makes food lao hong, the heavy traffic on the roads, the rude salespersons, the ill-mannered (dig nose in public etc.) residents, the massive pushing and pulling of people in shopping centres, the commercialization of almost every part of this island, and the little 'space' makes its harder to breathe. And thus, people are so much more hot-tempered.

Everything here is efficient, chop chop curry pok, everything so convenient, all in a click or a flag. Every possible 5 mins, there are buses arriving at bus stops, mrts at stations, taxi all along the pavements. And if it isn't this way, complaints will flood till someone's ear drums break. It's so difficult to slow down, isn't it. It takes so much to stay focus to what is most important in life while everything else blurs it more and more. Life at a slower pace is certainly hard to grasp. But truly an enjoyment, with the ample space to breathe, to love, to live.

I don't wanna be stuck in this tornado of work and busyness.
I don't wanna be following the chop chop curry pok pace.
I don't wanna be so into the commercial, but i wanna always appreciate Your beauty in your makings.
I wanna be where You are, always.
Take my crown, let me drown
Rescue me, completely.

Seeking You.

the first time in 2006, i had prata for supper at simpang bedok. beat that.
and obviously, i enjoyed myself, laughed till i was too full to finish up the 'kosong' and only had the 'egg prata' and milo dinosaur.

to our surprise, each of us had a different hairstyle. cass rebonded her hair and had fringe. sel curled her hair to a different wave in blonde. And yours truly parted with her almost-up-to-waist-long hair to a spunky hairdo. hahaha.

edited:
i never knew that changing a hair style was due to emo moods until someone asked me "is everything ok?"
mine reply: it couldn't be any better.
then brandon told me that a change in hairdo is due to traumatic experiences. hahaha. wells. as you can tell that i just found that out, so obviously i'm doing great! =)

to a spunkier me!

welcome

As i sit here and think about all that You've done
About how You gave me Your One and only Son
And I'm trying to fathom all that You are, but so far,
Lord, You're so beyond me
And i fall down in reverence and i fall down in fear
And i'm asking You, Lord, won't You please draw near
Won't You open my eyes so that i can see
The way that You are working in me
chorus:
All i need is Your love
To come and fill this heart of mine
My heart is a desert that has gone dry
And i need Your love to carry me by

So i lay down my life and i put it before You
All i put all that i have in Your hands
And i'm not going to question, why You're so faithful
Why that You give me the blessing that You do
Let the glory be known, let the glory be shown
Lift You up unto the throne

By,by,by,by
To carry me by, by, by, by, by
To carry me by
