2013 is a better year for great things to happen, and so we wrote down our resolutions. Guess what he wrote down on his paper... Make Rachel run a 10km marathon.
such a tall order. it wasn't on mine. :p
anyway, coming back to resolutions.. often not fulfilled because we forget about them as the months go by into the year. But guess what.. this year, resolutions to me were not just what i hope to try to achieve, but rather, i see them as commitments. If not, why bother?
Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be living! (2 Peter 3:11 LB)
Where I want to be, what I would like to be, I resolute now and choose to be defined by Godly, loving commitments.
Rick Warren once said:
Your commitments can develop you, or they can destroy
you, but either way, they will define you. Tell me what you’re
committed to, and I’ll tell you what you’ll be in twenty years.
It is at this very point of commitment that most
people miss God’s purpose for their lives. Many are afraid to commit to
anything, so they just drift through life. Others make half-hearted
commitments to competing values, and that leads to frustration and
mediocrity. Others make a full commitment to worldly goals, such as
becoming wealthy or famous, and they end up disappointed and bitter.
Every choice we make has eternal consequences, so we
need to choose wisely: “Since everything around us is going to melt
away, what holy, godly lives you should be living!” (2 Peter 3:11 LB).
As believers, we should be defined by godly, loving commitments. If we
want to become more like Jesus, then we need to commit to the same
things he did.
How interesting it spoke to me. What does your commitments say about you?
My resolutions this year is the theme: Back to Basics. Revel in His Love. Flap your wings. Ignite the Fire.
Hello 2013! I am all ready to take you on.
